Happy (late) Halloween and November 2024!
Coo coo ka-choo, how do you do?
I have been on a roll making Shroom Bloom shawls! Since they are officially going to launch on Friday, I figured I should build up a bit of stock. I have 3 out of the 20 skeins I have and just started on a 4th! They are so pretty! I owe it all to the yarn, the gradient colors make the rows look like the shawl grows outwards! I mean, the pattern is an expanding pattern so it does, but if I wanted mushroom, I sure have gotten mushroom! x)
I took a break from making them the other day since I redid the same last few super long rows multiple times over due to silly mistakes. I think I fried my brain because I was trying to multitask counting, watching a TV show, and reading subtitles since it was a K-drama. I'd get to the other end and notice I added an extra stitch or didn't put a space between the double crochet in the round previous! So frustrating! Regardless, I love this pattern because once I properly count out those ten the first time in the motif, it's smooth sailing from there.
I saw a post on Instagram a couple weeks ago of someone who made a virus shawl and it reached their calves! It looked so pretty! They did it in a gradient from purple to gold, I think, with lace weight yarn. I looked at my own that I was working on and thought... do I make them longer? I decided on five rounds of the motif before finishing off. The longer it gets, the more yarn it consumes per row, so I would have to use two cakes instead of one. Also, I feel like my mental "this is taking too long" barrier hits around the fourth round, so adding more would end up with these never getting done! LOL Sorry!
Heading back to the rework of my store, the lore so far is that these belong in the "Amorphophallus Atelier" and have been discovered as Pulse cleaned up the storefront! Amorphophallus being a reference to the titan arum... also known as the corpse flower! I wanted to make it something that sounded scientific and fancy, but if you know what it is, you know it's the flower that reeks! Such a beautiful flower, though, maybe in the future I'll make little plushie versions!
Yeah! That's what I've been doing this past week, working on the lore of the store and getting the inventory stocked up! Look out for more colors of the Shroom Bloom Shawl coming soon! x) Next up is the sea green one, or the Green Elf Cup, since that one is one of my favorites! Hope to see you all on Friday for the launch!
