Coo coo ka-choo, how do you do?
I probably should've done a month anniversary back when it passed, so here's month two! Whoo! Yeah! What can really be constituted as a month? I could've said February 26th, but the leap year and the fact that Jan/Feb 26th aren't exactly 30 days from each other (and some months have 31)... Argh! It's inconsequential, no one's here anyway. Which is actually good since I still haven't solved the address problem and easily could've been self-doxxing this whole time.
Okay, so, first things first, I did end up finishing that mushroom bag and no I don't plan to make another one. I feel like I followed the pattern to the best of my ability and in the end the entire bag feels like its on the wrong side of the mushroom LOL. The fact that there's no clear right/wrong side to a reversible bag apparently really threw me off. Is this against the pattern rules to talk about? I'm not sharing too much, I'll stay vague. Round four is a round of back post single crochet, right? So the chains are still accessible to add on to... I don't know how to describe it but it's really nice and convenient. So after finishing the mushroom portion (and leaving my paused working tail on the wrong side of the bag), the pattern says to start the bag portion of the pattern using round four's stitches, right? Why now are the nice details on the mushroom when it's sticking awkwardly out underneath the bag instead of when it's closed?! I don't understand and the example pictures are kinda... sparse.
Secondly, I've updated some pictures on the site! We've got new pictures on the limited dewdrop hats and melon keychains. I hope you like them! I wanted to mess with the shots some more, but the photobox is a hassle to work with with the space that I have. In all the shuffling, I forgot to take pictures of I think the cotton candy hats. I crocheted them nearly three years ago at this point, I forget what discontinued colorways they were named after!
Speaking of crocheted three years ago, I feel like there'll end up being a difference between stuff I make (or made) now versus then. I've been practicing crocheting since 2018, so no matter what I'm improving. However, now that I'm planning to make stuff to sell, I'm way more conscious about mistakes and getting things done in a timely manner. There's an unfinished cover story half double crochet blanket I planned to finish in 2022 next to me taking up space on my yarn bag! I get bored with it and then the yarn gets tangled and then it's covered in fur... I just don't want to deal with it! So I made the hard boundary for myself that if I plan to sell an item, it should only take me a day or two to finish because my impatient brain hates things that start feeling like I'm not making any progress. So that bag? A prime target.
Regardless, I have a Bubbloid to try out. He's got a green variant and I still have my greens out from the melon keychains. Smaller plushes like these usually are a hassle the first time through and then are a breeze, so hope this and the others are a solid addition to my lineup. It's an infinite mental battle for me: Do I hate sewing more than I hate giant swathes of the same stitch? Or in this case, will I choke the last few rows of this Bubbloid like I did the Crumploid I started back in July? TwT I stopped crocheting for a good couple months after that and I'd rather not have that happen again.
