Coo coo ka-choo, how do you do?
Whoa, whoa, whoa?! I missed a week?! And I'm late this week?! Goes to show how little use my brain gets when a couple check-ups throws off my entire internal calendar! Otakon was this past weekend and I try to make a habit of renewing my glasses in case I'm very far in the back of a panel. Due to a few unfortunate circumstances, I haven't gone in a good few years and my glasses took a week instead of an hour. Thus they were finished... just after we'd left for the weekend. Of course, with that throwing off my plans, everything went into total chaos leading up to the convention. It ended up being a success overall, so I think it was worth the stress.
I always take special interest in supporting crochet booths at any convention I go to nowadays. Back when I first started, I used to think it would be pointless to buy from them since I thought I could just make it myself. Well, would you believe it is way easier to just buy a finished item instead of putting it together from scratch? That rabbit hat I made earlier this year? Thirty bucks and I've got it in black and white in about a minute instead of three hours of sewing and redoing.
One thing that was very useful as I was shopping, though most likely not useful to the vendors, was hearing people around me react to the crochet items. Multiple times looking at vendors selling anime hats, I heard people saying that they understand the price but they were not willing to pay that much. In fact... even I didn't buy one over other items at their store(s) LOL. Regardless, juggling the worth of the craft with how expensive an item can be before it turns people away is such a difficult thing!
