Lunar New Year and Valentine's Day 2024

Coo coo ka-choo, how do you do?

     This past weekend had so much going on! I spent the past few days watching the endless amount of lion dance livestreams, followed by reading everyone's hot takes before/after the Halftime show, and then Valentine's cake and cookie decoration ideas. Turns out people were celebrating Mardi Gras too?! I feel like my weekend of treating myself to delivery was super underwhelming in comparison.

     I think the one main thing I did has been lost to the abyss. I bought a bunch of one pounds off of the JoAnn website, mostly colors to make the melon keychains. Previously, I had 5 variations (Watermelon, Cantaloupe, Honeydew, Casaba, and Winter), but I found a page with a wide variety of melons with all kinds of different colors. Most of them are still just oranges and yellows, which one pounds don't really have a good selection of, but the combinations of rinds to flesh are where the details differ.

     So I gathered the colors and bought the yarn. Then I checked my account to see when it would arrive... and it says I have no recent orders. Well, that's okay, I made two different accounts by accident, maybe it's on the other one. Nope. The app won't even load recent orders. Maybe it's just that my tablet lost connection before the payment went through. I did purchase it at one percent. But I got the notification from my bank. Agh! In the end, another possible setback.

     On a high note, I did manage to get the old, old hats from their hiding spot. That's a lot of heavy lifting I don't want to do again. Hopefully, my family won't reorganize my stuff again for the thousandth time. All the ends are woven in and the next thing to do is wash them! One thing I noticed after washing and blocking a couple hats is that they turned... crunchy? I don't know how to describe it. I'm pretty sure I properly rinsed them and set them to dry for two days, but when I touch the unwashed hats, they're less soft in comparison! Is that just the curse of Caron jumbo?

     I probably should've done something for Valentine's Day, huh? I don't like chocolate, so I don't tend to collect chocolate themed crochet patterns. Halloween at least has ghosts and skeletons, Valentine's is... chocolate. If you say it's hearts, well, that's already the theme of my store LOL. How do I get more heart themed than RustyyHeart? I see a lot of people doing crochet bouquets. Those look really pretty, but also really time consuming. I do have a bunch of floral wire from my days of endless dragon daydreaming, but I don't have any light green yarn! Unless you want your flowers to be shades of brown and grey, I can't whip them up at the moment. Green will hopefully come if that JoAnn order actually does exist somewhere. 

     Ah! And this year is year of the dragon! I could've made a set of dragons! I have both Eastern and Western dragon patterns! I could just work with those! *ramble, ramble*
